Columbus North girls golf edges Greenwood

Columbus North High School FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Senior Emily Morris shot a 40 on Monday (Aug. 13), leading the No. 14 Columbus North girls golf team to a close victory over Greenwood at The Legends of Indiana Golf Course.
Sophomore Sydney Anderson added a 43 and classmate Morgan Deis had a 44 for the Bull Dogs, who finished with a 173 team total. That was five strokes better than the Woodmen.
Junior Sam McQueen completed CN's scoring with a 46. Others participating for the Bull Dogs were junior Lauren Backmeyer (49), sophomore Madison Smith (59), sophomore Madison Pearson (62) and freshman Paige Grider (63).
Shelby Johnson and Colleen Johnson each shot a 44 to lead the Lady Woodmen.
Columbus North returns to action at 4 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 14) when it hosts Batesville at Harrison Lake Country Club. The Bull Dogs follow with a meet at 4:30 p.m. Thursday (Aug. 16) against Jennings County.
