Home » Girls' Golf NewsAnderson, Deis pace Columbus North to golf title at GreensburgAugust 4, 2012 Columbus North High School GREENSBURG, Ind. -- Sophomores Sydney Anderson and Morgan Deis each broke 80 on Saturday (Aug. 4), leading the Columbus North girls golf team to the championship of the Greensburg Invitational.
Anderson shot a 7-over-par 77, while Deis had a 9-over 79 as the Bull Dogs amassed a 317 total en route to a 21-stroke victory over Columbus East and Richmond in the 18-school event at Greensburg Country Club.
Senior Emily Morris contributed an 80 and junior Sam McQueen added an 81 as CN posted its second tournament victory in three days. On Thursday, the Bull Dogs won the Martinsville Invitiational.
Junior Lauren Backmeyer completed the Columbus North lineup with an 88.
Erin Ingram of Richmond claimed medalist honors with a 2-under 68. She finished eight strokes ahead of runner-up Lindsey Hackleman of Connersville and nine ahead of Anderson. Deis, Haley Owens of Richmond and Paige Meeker of Jennings County all posted 79s -- Owens placing fourth, Meeker fifth and Deis sixth based on a scorecard playoff.
Columbus East and Richmond each had a team score of 338. Connersville was fourth at 349, while Jennings County was fifth at 369 and Batesville sixth at 380. Rushville (381), Greenfield-Central (383), Greensburg (391) and Indian Creek (403) completed the top 10.
Columbus North returns to action at 4:30 p.m. Monday (Aug. 6) when it hosts Perry Meridian at Harrison Lake Country Club. The Bull Dogs follow with a match at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday (Aug. 7) against Southport at Southern Dunes Golf Course in Indianapolis.
