Columbus North boys golf wins Shelbyville Invitational

Columbus North High School SHELBYVILLE, Ind. -- Sophomore Christian Fairbanks shot a 77 on Wednesday (May 30), leading the No. 1 Columbus North boys golf team to a title in eight-team Shelbyville Invitational.
Classmates Tanner Bennett and Zack Lee each carded a 79 as the Bull Dogs totaled a 317, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Mooresville. Batesville was third with a 347 followed by East Central at 349 and Shelbyville "A" at 352.
Freshman Kyung Kim added an 82 for CN, while sophomore Nick Waskom rounded out the team's lineup with an 84.
Columbus North is back in action at 8:30 a.m. Friday (June 1) in the Greensburg Sectional at Greensburg Country Club. Fairbanks and Bennett will be joined by sophomore Michael VanDeventer, junior Jacob Coffey and senior John Arthur in competing for the Bull Dogs there.
