Columbus North boys golf edges Columbus East in 18-hole dual

      COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Senior John Arthur shot a 77 on Thursday (May 24) to share medalist honors and pace the No. 1 Columbus North boys golf team to a narrow victory over rival Columbus East.
      Sophomore Michael VanDeventer added a 78 and classmate Tanner Bennett carded a 79 for the Bull Dogs, who had a team total of 314 in the 18-hole dual match at Harrison Lake Country Club.
      That was three shots better than the Olympians, who were led by Konnor Kimmel's 77.
      Sophomores Christian Fairbanks and Zack Lee each tallied an 80 for Columbus North, while junior Jacob Coffey had an 81.
      Supporting Kimmel for East were Sam Jackson with a 78, Zack Sutton with a 79 and Adam Krebs with an 83.
      At the JV level, Columbus North defeated Columbus East 335-378. Sophomore Nick Waskom was medalist with an 82. Other CN scores were freshman Kyung Kim (83), sophomore Jake Armuth (85), senior Conner Hayes (85), sophomore Ian Coffey (89), sophomore Connor Opalka (89), junior Ian McGillivrey (92) and freshman Devin Abendroth (105).
      Columbus North is back in action at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 26) when it travels to the Providence Invitational at Champions Pointe Golf Club in Henryville. A second CN squad will travel to the Lafayette Jeff Invitational at 1 p.m. Saturday (May 26) at Battle Ground Golf Club in Battle Ground, Ind.
      The team then completes its regular season by competing in the Shelbyville Invitational at 8 a.m. Wednesday (May 30).
