Columbus North tops Greensburg 4-3 in softball

Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Sophomore Denisa Brooks drove in one run and scored another Wednesday (May 9), helping the Columbus North softball team to a 4-3 victory over Class 3A No. 5 Greensburg.
Junior Shelby Lucas and seniors Emily Scheidt and Michelle Murphy each added hits for the Bull Dogs, who improved to 13-8. Scheidt, sophomore Shannah Hercamp and freshman Michelle Litchfield contributed RBIs in the four-run second inning.
Freshman Kelsay Lucas allowed five hits and three runs while improving to 5-1 as a pitcher. Sophomore Molly Crowe came on in relief, yielding two hits and no runs to pick up her third save.
In the JV game, Columbus North outscored Greensburg 15-10 in a game called in the bottom of the fourth inning because of rain. Sophomore Grayson Harney had two doubles among four hits, while freshman Shea Wasilewski added three singles.
The Bull Dogs return to the diamond at 5 p.m. Thursday (May 10) at Southport. They follow by hosting Brownstown Central at 10 a.m. Saturday (May 12).
