Bloomington South softball tops Columbus North 4-1

Columbus North High School COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Alex Whirley had two hits for Columbus North on Tuesday (May 8), but Bloomington South knocked off the Bull Dogs 4-1 in a Conference Indiana softball game.
CN, which fell to 12-8 overall and 3-3 in league play, saw a four-game winning streak ended with the decision.
The Panthers took a 1-0 lead in the first and pushed their advantage to 4-0 in the top of the seventh. Columbus North rallied for one run in the bottom of the seventh -- sophomore Denisa Brooks had an RBI single -- but the Bull Dogs could not overcome the deficit.
Senior Michelle Murphy and freshman Kelsay Lucas also had singles for Columbus North.
Freshman Olivia White pitched a five-hitter and was the winner for Bloomington South. Sophomore Molly Crowe allowed seven hits and took the setback.
In the JV game, Bloomington South won 5-3. Freshman Shea Wasilewski had two singles for the Bull Dogs.
CN returns to the diamond at 5 p.m. Wednesday (May 9) when it hosts Class 3A No. 5 Greensburg. The Bull Dogs follow with their final league game at 5:30 p.m. Thursday (May 10) at Southport.
