Home » Girls' Tennis NewsNo. 22 Columbus North girls tennis blanks Southport 5-0May 4, 2012 Columbus North High School INDIANAPOLIS -- Seniors Whitney Olibo, Jaewon Jung and Julie Reece won matches without dropping a game Thursday (May 3), leading the No. 22 Columbus North girls tennis team to a 5-0 victory at Southport.
The Bull Dogs improved to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in Conference Indiana with the decision. Their final conference match is at home on Monday (May 7) against No. 17 Bloomington South.
Against Southport, Olibo defeated the Cardinals' Gena Clayton 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles while Jung and Reece topped the host's Julia Dembroski and Callie Hunsicker 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 doubles.
CN also won the other three positions in straight sets.
Senior Allie Smith beat Southport's Dyllan Brown 6-0, 6-1 at No. 1 singles, while sophomore Sara Vanderkolk defeated the Cardinals' Danielle Keeler 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 singles.
At No. 1 doubles, seniors Rachael Miller and Melissa Sanders topped Southport's Kayla Walker and Andie Pleinhart 6-2, 6-1.
Columbus North won the JV competition 11-0 to move its record to 10-1.
CN tennis returns to the courts at 5:30 p.m. Monday when it hosts Bloomington South. The Bull Dogs follow with a home match at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday (May 8) against No. 2 Carmel. CN also visits No. 20 Greenwood on Thursday (May 10) and Greensburg on Friday (May 11) before hosting its own invitational on Saturday (May 12).
