Sophomore Dylan Cowan pitched a 3-hit complete game to pick up the win in his first start at the varsity level. Junior center fielder Jesse Tompkins made a diving catch to help Cowan's effort.
"As a team, we don't swing at bad pitches," CN coach Brian Muckerheide told The Republic. "We want to kill fastballs and adjust to everything else."
The coach also praised Cowan for his second-game effort on the mound.
"Dylan gave us great pitching," Muckerheide said. "We had confidence in him, but we didn't know if he had confidence in himself. He proved (Saturday) that the varsity spotlight was not too big for him."
