Columbus North boys golf wins Seymour Invitational

Columbus North High School SEYMOUR, Ind. -- Sophomore Christian Fairbanks shot a 73 on Saturday (March 31), lifting the second-ranked Columbus North boys golf team to the championship of the Seymour Invitational.
The Bull Dogs had a 308 total in their season-opening event, two shots better than 11th-ranked runner-up Bedford North Lawrence in the 12-team competition at Shadowood Golf Course. No. 10 Jasper was third with a 318 followed by Columbus East with a 329, Seymour with a 331 and Bloomington South with a 333.
Senior John Arthur added a 77, while junior Jacob Coffey contributed a 78 for CN -- which claimed the championship of this event for the first time. Sophomore Michael VanDeventer shot an 80, while sophomore Tanner Bennett completed the Bull Dogs' lineup with an 82.
Columbus North returns to action at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday when it faces Bloomington South and Brownstown Central at Hickory Hills Golf Course in Brownstown.
