Home » Baseball NewsColumbus North baseball tied for 19th in preseason 4A pollMarch 15, 2012 Columbus North High School The Columbus North baseball team is tied for 19th in the preseason Class 4A poll conducted by the Indiana High School Baseball Coaches Association.
The Bull Dogs, who finished 17-9 last season, return a solid group and look to be one of the leaders in Conference Indiana. CN is the only conference team included in the preseason poll.
Coach Brian Muckerheide's squad returns three players who received all-conference honors in 2011. Senior shortstop Hunter McIntosh was a first-team selection, while senior outfielder C.J. Dennis and junior pitcher Daniel Ayers were honorable mention choices.
Lake Central is No. 1 in the preseason poll with defending state champion Fort Wayne Carroll and defending state runner-up Cathedral tied for second. Pendleton Heights is fourth followed by New Albany, Zionsville, Huntington North and Crown Point. Penn is ninth and Jeffersonville completes the top 10.
Columbus North opens its season at 6 p.m. April 5 at home against Fishers, another team that is preseason co-No. 19. The Bull Dogs follow with a home doubleheader at 11 a.m. April 7 against Jennings County.
