COLUMBUS, Ind. -- Junior Danielle McDermott won two events and the all-around title Wednesday night (Feb. 22), leading the No. 7 Columbus North gymnastics team to the top spot in a three-team competition in the Bill Stearman Athletic Complex.

The Bull Dogs totaled 105.125 points to outdistance Jeffersonville and Owen Valley as they celebrated Senior Night. The Red Devils were second with 99.225 points, while the Patriots were third with 75.000.

McDermott scored a season-best 9.450 in winning the vault, and she also prevailed in the uneven parallel bars with a 8.750. In addition, she placed third on floor exercise with a 9.225 and fifth on balance beam with a 8.275. Together, she amassed a 35.700 all-around total, .075 better than senior teammate Chelsea Stretshberry.

Stretshberry netted two season bests while placing second on vault (season-best 9.200), bars (8.275) and floor (season-best 9.575) as well as fourth on beam (8.575).

Senior Torrie McClintic also posted season bests on floor (8.500) and all-around (31.425), while junior Emma Geilker had a season-best 7.600 on bars.

Jeffersonville's Haley Fugate claimed the other event crowns. She took the floor with a 9.625 and the beam with a 9.425. Fugate also was third on vault (9.150), but she did not compete on bars.

Columbus North returns to action on March 2 when it competes in the Columbus East Sectional. The Bull Dogs will be joined by Bloomington North, Bloomington South, Columbus East, Jeffersonville, Martinsville, Owen Valley and Seymour in that competition. Action begins at 7 p.m.; the top three teams advance to the Columbus East Regional on March 9.
