Home » Gymnastics NewsFranklin Central wins Conference Indiana gymnasticsFebruary 19, 2012 Columbus North High School BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- Emily Baker won two events and the all-around title Saturday (Feb. 18), leading co-No. 14 Franklin Central to the championship of the Conference Indiana gymnastics meet.
The Flashes amassed 104.350 points to edge No. 8 Bloomington South, which totaled 104.025 points in the six-school competition at Bloomington North. No. 7 Columbus North was third with 103.900 followed by Bloomington North (96.900), Perry Meridian (84.925) and Southport (27.950).
Baker won the vault with a 9.675 and the balance beam with a 9.050. She also was second on bars with 8.950 and third on floor exercise with a 9.175. That gave her a 36.850 total, 0.150 better than runner-up Danielle McDermott of Columbus North.
The CN junior also won two events to go with a third and fourth. McDermott took the bars with a 9.425 and the floor with a 9.500. She also was third on beam with an 8.675 and four on vault with a 9.100.
Bloomington South's Ally Langley placed third in the all-around with a 34.900, while the Panthers' Alix Carlsberg was fourth with a 34.250. Columbus North senior Chelsea Streshberry was fifth with a 33.875 followed by Franklin Central's Dana Roth (33.625), Columbus North junior Chelsea Wieland (33.325) and Bloomington North's Ashley Chitwood (33.125).
