Crete-Monee dominates Glenbard SouthBY RON BROW
September 16, 2011 11:44PMCrete-Monee’s offense exploded Friday night in its first home game of the season, routing Glenbard South 64-19.
Kenneth Kidd, Marcus Terrell and LaQuan Treadwell led the Warriors (4-0). Kidd rushed 13 times for 111 yards and three touchdowns and added a fourth touchdown on a 13-yard pass from Terrell. Terrell finished 17-of-30 passing for 317 yards and five touchdowns. Three of the touchdown passes went to Treadwell, who caught five passes for 135 yards.
“This was a good game offensively for us,” Terrell said. “But we know we still have work to do. We played good tonight, but I think we can play better.”
Kidd echoed Terrell, saying, “We practiced hard this past week and we knew we had to come in here and keep our focus. It was a good game for us, but we know we can play even better. We want to make history.”
Crete-Monee, which has qualified for the playoffs the past six years, is 4-0 for the first time since 1999.
“When we set up our schedule I thought it was a schedule that would get us ready for conference play,” Crete-Monee coach Jerry Verde said. “We’re happy to be 4-0, but we’ll be back at it in the morning. We do some running drills and then we’ll be checking the films to iron out our mistakes.”
After turning the ball over on an interception on its first possession, Crete-Monee scored on four straight possessions, with Kidd scoring on a 1-yard run, on a 13-yard pass from Terrell and on a 20-yard run and Treadwell scoring on a 55-yard pass from Terrell to make it 29-0.
Kyle Tilley and Ola Ogunlana also had touchdowns for Crete.
Wesley Sanders had a 94-yard kickoff return and a 30-yard touchdown reception for Glenbard South (1-3).
