The Grant Generals plated three runs in the first inning, but needed three more runs in the fourth inning to rally past the Cleveland Warriors 6-5 on Tuesday at Grant High School in Northeast Portland.

The six runs for the Generals are the second most runs they have scored this season, which coach Matt Kabza hopes is a sign that their bats are turning around after a sluggish start.

"We've been doing a better job having quality at-bats, not just getting base hits but moving guys over and doing the little things like executing sacrifice bunts," Kabza said.

Cleveland scored all five of its runs in the fourth inning off Grant left-hander Andrew Marriott. The Warriors' lead was short-lived, as Marriott managed to hold all of the damage to the fourth inning and pick up the win.

"Andrew did a great job for us today. He does a great job of locating pitches and changing speeds," Kabza said.

Grant (4-8) struck back in the bottom of the fourth with three runs to take the lead, and ultimately seal the win. Marriott lasted into the sixth, after which senior Zach Johnson came on to close out the game for Grant.

Cleveland drops to 6-8 on the season, but remains atop the PIL with a 5-1 conference record. Tuesday's loss halted a streak of three straight wins, all against Roosevelt, for the Warriors. Cleveland looks to rebound on Monday, April 21 at Lincoln, as Grant faces a road test against Benson next on Friday, April 15.
