BASEBALL: Cleveland wins league opener against Benson

April 1, 2014
Cleveland High School

The Road Warriors felt at home defeating Benson 4-1 at Sckavone Field in their league opener.

Jack Sampson was brilliant, throwing a complete 3-hit game while only allowing one run in the 6th. Jack mixed pitches in all counts and dominated from the start, keeping the Benson hitter off balance all days.

Malik Austin provided three hits and scored twice while causing havoc on the bases. Eli Morse had three critical sacrifices and a couple amazing defensive plays. Alex Sparks also came up with a shot down the left field line for double scoring Jack Sampson from second.

Cleveland will be back in action Wednesday, April 2, for the second of a three-game series. Next game Wednesday 4:30 at Sckavone Field.

There was a nice crowd of alumni in attendance: Matt Robirds, Steve Brandon, Tim Devore, Jeff Kaufoury, and John Romanaggi.
