CROSS COUNTRY: Girls & Boys Teams Make History
November 4, 2013Cleveland High School
On Saturday afternoon, the Cleveland boys and girls cross country teams made history by both winning trophies at the state championships. Both teams finished fourth to reach the podium. This is the first time that both teams have won a trophy in the same year, and follows the boys second-place finish a year ago and the girls first ever trophy two years ago.
On the girls side Emma Wren led the girls with a fifth-place finish, and Nabi Amin finished 13th to lead the boys. The other four scoring members of the girls team included Bryn Mckillop, Emillie Winn, Nora Sawyer, and Bella Forrest. Also running were Madelline and Emily Willard-Herr.
Also scoring for the boys were Roba Sultessa, Alex Nova, Nick Scrivens, and Jalato Sultessa. Also running were Peter Kurtz and Noah Adams.
On Saturday, November 23, Emma and Bryn (and many other Oregon runners) will run in the Nike Border Clash against the top runners from Washington state. It will be held at the Nike World Headquarters Campus in Beaverton. Come on out and cheer them on. It will be the exciting end to great seasons for both Cleveland's teams.
