GIRLS SOCCER: Cleveland moves on to Round 1

November 3, 2012
Cleveland High School

Thursday, November 1, Cleveland's girls soccer team (ranked 17 of 39 in the state) traveled to Hood River Valley High School (ranked 16) and kicked its way to a 3-2 win. That win will allow Cleveland to move on to Round 1 play with 15 other teams, each one pursuing the OSAA Girls Soccer Championship title.

 Here are some highlights:

  • Sophomore Ava Mickola scored the first goal within the first 10 minutes of the first half.
  • We went down 2-1 before the end of the first half.
  • Junior Rio Dimmick scored with 10 minutes left in the game to tie it up.
  • We went into two 10-minute overtime periods.
  • Senior Sofia Loprinzi Hardin crossed the ball with less than 2 minutes left in overtime.  Kayla Bell headed the ball into the back of the net to win the game.

It was an amazing game to watch.  The girls never let down!

Round 1 play begins Wednesday, November 6. Watch the iHigh ticker on our home page or the calendar for information about the next playoff game.
