BOYS SOCCER: Clackamas defeats Cleveland 3-1 (9/15/2012)

September 29, 2012
By Steve McCrea of Cleveland High School

Clackamas 3, Cleveland 1

Cleveland travelled to Clackamas High School Saturday to take on the 6A Clackamas Cavaliers. The Cavs scored first in the 7th minute when a clearing pass bounced off the face of Clackamas junior Ian Tarnovsky. Tarnovsky took advantage of the good bounce and scored from 10 yards out.

Cleveland struck back in the 30th minute, when junior Charlie Clark headed home a corner kick for his first goal of the season.

Early in the second half, Clackamas senior Aden Trejo scored on an impressive left foot shot from the offensive top right corner of the box.

Cleveland had two excellent chances in the next 5 minutes, one from junior Connor Rodriguez-Scott that just missed the right post, and a blast from senior Collin Faunt at point blank range in the 52nd minute of play.

Trejo scored again in the 64th minute for the final score of the game.
