Mr. Stultz and I are pleased to tell you that we took three competing choirs to a festival competition in Dallas on Friday and walked away with many honors including:
-A solo performance award for senior Michael Skarke
-Combined JV Women’s Choir received overall second place (Silver) just behind a varsity women’s choir from a large 5A choir program in Dallas
-Chamber Singers received a first place (Gold) rating in the Madrigal Choir division
-Symphonic Chorale received a first place (Gold) rating in the Concert Choir division
-The whole choir program was given the Sweepstakes Award for having the highest level of overall performance (highest combined scores) at the festival
-Chamber Singers and Symphonic Chorale both had the highest scores possible and, as a result, were the only choirs from the festival who were invited to participate in the National Invitational Festival of Gold and 2013-2014 National Youth Choir Festival at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Not sure if we are going to do that yet or not, but it’s nice to qualify and be invited…
In addition to the competition, the students represented our school and community with distinction up in Dallas, whether while they were singing, ice skating in the Dallas Galleria, or enjoying the rides at Six Flags over Texas. We have so much to be proud about! Please congratulate any choir members you have in your classes for such a successful weekend!
