The Clear Creek JV Baseball team won the CCISD JV Baseball tournament this weekend, after going undefeated in three games. Highlights of the weekend include Stephen Garcia collecting 5 hits, Ben Rigby getting 5 hits, Zaq Walsh with 2 doubles, and Dylan Richardson with both 3 hits, and 3 stolen bases. Nick Reny, Aron Solis, and Levi Porter combined for a 1 hit shutout against Clear Falls on Saturday. The team would like to thank everyone who came to support them, and are looking forward to continuing their solid start to the season.

Congratulations to Micaela Roemer for taking 6th place in the 100 fly and breaking the school record with a time of 56.38 and for taking 13th place in the 100 free at the state swimming finals
Anne Woolweaver On Saturday, 13 of our CCHS Choir students competed in the annual UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest. CCHS Choir has traditionally taken only about 5-6 students to this competition in the past, so we are thrilled that we doubled the number of students participating. We are even more excited that 7 of the 13 students do not take private voice lessons, meaning that they earned their score based on work they did on their solo by simply applying the skills they’re learning in their choir classes.
For this competition, students were assigned a solo from an approved UIL music list, materials from Mr. Coffey and I to learn the piece on their own, and then set up times outside of class to work with Mr. Coffey and I. Students then traveled to Angleton HS and sang their solo from memory for a UIL judge. They were given feedback from the judge and a rating of I (Superior, like making a 100), II (Excellent, like making an “A” but not a 100), III (Average, like making a B), IV (Below Average, like making a C or D), and V (Poor, like making an F). We are pleased to announce that all Creek Choir students scored a I or II on their solos.
The following students made a II (Excellent) on their solo. (They might be a little disappointed about it since everyone strives to get a one, but we’re still proud of them…) Charlie Reader (10) Abby Schramm (11) Gabby Williams (12)
The following students made a I (Superior) on their solo and won an individual medal that they get to keep: Vicky Cruz (12) Sarah Hart (9) Brittany Jandick (11) Jessica Regan (12) Kathryn Stanley (9)
The following students made a I (Superior) on their Class 1 solo, won an individual medal, and qualified for the Texas State UIL Solo Competition that happens in May in Austin: Aura Alden (10) Kelly Clark (10) Laney Price (11) Brian Ritter (12) Erin Saylor (11)
Please join me in congratulating these fine young people on their individual musical achievement.
James Park, Choir Director
