Mr. Vitek On Saturday, CCHS hosted the TMEA Region 17 All-Region Choir Auditions. Our students did extremely well, both in running the competition and in the actual competition itself. Thank you to the staff and faculty for helping us run the auditions. A special note of thanks to the custodial staff, library, and the 8 teachers whose rooms we used. Please let me know if you had any issues this morning with your room not getting back to its original condition on Saturday. We ran such a smooth and fair audition that we will be asked to host it again each year. I also can’t tell you how many times I heard something like “You have a beautiful school!” from the guest judges who are all area choir teachers.
We have a total of 38 students placed into 3 Region Choirs. Twenty of our choir students placed into the Region Mixed Choir at Saturday’s auditions and will advance to the 3rd of 4 rounds on the way to the All-State Choir. Their next round of auditions will come in December.
All 38 students will meet this weekend at LaMarque High School with the other Region Choir members from all of the other area high schools to rehearse and perform with their respective choir under the direction of very well-known and prestigious choir directors. For most students, this weekend will be a defining moment in their young musical career.
