Home » Announcements NewsThree former Bulldogs playing professionallyJune 21, 2011 CKYSportsLEBANON, Tenn. - Three former Cumberland baseball players are currently playing professionally, including 2010 NAIA Player of the Year Matt Greener as well as Troy Frazier and Luis Martinez. Martinez is the only former Bulldog with a Major League affiliated club. The 6-foot, 210-pound catcher is a member of the San Diego Padres organization and is currently with the Tucson Padres in AAA in the Pacific Coast League. Martinez is batting .267 in 31 contests with seven doubles, 12 RBIs and 14 runs scored through June 12. He was drafted by the Padres in the 12th round in 2007. Tucson is scheduled to be in Nashville August 16-19 to face the Sounds. Greener played last season with the Kalamazoo [MI] Kings and is currently with the Rockford [IL] Riverhawks in the independent Frontier League. The Jupiter, Fla., native is batting .305 through 22 contests with two doubles, two triples, one home run, 12 RBIs and 10 runs scored through June 13. Frontier League teams include the Joliet Slammers, Lake Erie Crushers, Traverse City Beach Bums, Washington Wild Things, Windy City ThunderBolts, Evansville Otters, Florence Freedom, Gateway Grizzlies, Normal CornBelters, River City Rascals and Southern Illinois Miners. Frazier is playing with the Roswell [NM] Invaders in the Pecos League of Professional Baseball Clubs, a first-year league that includes the Carlsbad Cats, White Sands Pupfish, Ruidoso Osos, Alpine Cowboys and Las Cruces Vaqueros.
