Home » Girls' Tennis NewsCambridge-Isanti Wins USTA Area ChampionshipsJuly 23, 2011 Cambridge-Isanti Girls' TennisCongratulations to the Cambridge-Isanti 18U USTA Team Tennis Squad. They won the USTA Area Championships at Coon Rapids on Tuesday, July 19th! They are the first team from Cambridge-Isanti to earn medals at the area championships. To earn their medals they defeated the number one seeded team from Moore Lake Lifetime Fitness of Fridley. The area championships included nine teams from Anoka, Champlin, Fridley, Hibbing, St. Cloud, Coon Rapids, and Cambridge Isanti. Some cities had more than one team at the championships. The talented Cambridge-Isanti team consists of Madi Booth, Nikki Hallstrom, Tori Marlton, Erika Schmieg, Devin Gislason, Jay Gislason, Nick Reiners, Sam Renier, Marshall White, and Mike White. There has been a tag-team of coaches with the squad this summer including Thea Lowman, Clint Lundeen, Lee Orvik, and some special help from parent volunteer Becky Hallstrom. The team of Bluejackets is now one of only sixteen remaining teams in the entire Northern Section to play in their division at the USTA Northern Section Championships. There were fifty-two USTA tennis teams in Cambridge-Isanti's division of the Twin Cities League alone, The Northern Section Championships will include the top sixteen teams from across Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The Championships will be played at the University of Minnesota Baseline Tennis Center this coming week. Once again, Congratulations Bluejackets!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
