IW Cross Country Regionals

October 26, 2009
By Joey Dion of Illini West High School

The first thing I want to say is congratulations to all the Illini West Cross Country runners for a great season.  You all have given it your best throughout the year and you should be proud of what you have accomplished.

Today wewent to Macomb for the IHSA Regionals.  The weather was cool and the course was wet.  Natalie Northup ran to an 11th place finish.  Her time was 21:17.  She was the 5th fastest finisher that was not already on a team advancing to the Sectionals.  With her place, Natalie advances to the IHSA Sectionals in Elmwood next Saturday.  Lindsay Beach ran a hard race and finished in 12th place finish and a time of 21:34.  Lindsay missed going to Sectionals by one place.  Rachel Bavery completed her first year in cross country by placing 29th with a time of 25:21.  Hannah Dorothy placed 48th with a time of 30:01.  Hannah ran the race even though she had been sick most of all last week.

The boys were led by Craig Corzatt.  Craig placed 26th with a time of 18:40.  Craig barely missed getting the last remaining spot for Sectionals.  Jon Tobias completed the race in 41st place and a time of 20:04.  John Brewer placed 58th and ran a time of 21:59.

All the Illini West runners have shown what it means to run with your head, personality, and heart.  (Hannah, took that one from you)
