Ft. Madison Invite By Coach Norris

September 18, 2009
By Joey Dion of Illini West High School

Today the Illini West Cross Country team traveled to Ft MAdison for their invitational meet.  The weather was good for the meet and the course was flat.  The teams were split into 2 divisions.  A large school division and a small school division.  Our school participated in the small school division.  The boys ran 5,000 meters and the girls ran 4,000 meters.

The girls team placed 4th and was led by Natalie Northup.  Natalie placed 5th with a time of 18:51.  Lindsay Beach was our next runner to cross the finish line in 13th place, with a time of 19:34.  Both Natalie and Lindsay medalled in the meet.  Rachel Bavery was our next finisher in 23rd place with a time of 20:59.  The next runner to finish for the team was Hannah Dorothy.  Hannah placed 41st with a time of 25:18.  Nicole Blythe placed 44th with a time of 26:37 to complete our scoring.

The boys only had 4 runners so they could not compete as a team.  We were led by Alex Gold, who placed 19th with a time of 19:17.  Craig Corzatt was our next finisher with a place of 23rd and a time of 19:41.  Jon Tobias ran to a 29th place and a time of 20:02.  John Brewer placed 49th with a time of 21:40.

Our next meet is next Thursday in Burlington.
