Stevensville rides 4th-quarter rally past Big Sky

The Stevensville girls' basketball team hiked its record to 3-0 with an impressive 42-38 win over Missoula Big Sky on Friday at the Eagles' gym.

Junior center Alycia Sims scored a team-high 13 points and sophomore Kyla Paulsen chipped in 11, including a pair of 3-pointers in the fourth when the Yellowjackets outscored the Eagles 20-10.

"She's a good player," Big Sky coach Marti Leibenguth said of the 6-foot-3 Sims. "She's atheletic, she can rebound and score the ball."

Elle Tinkle led Big Sky (1-2) with 14 points and Dani Baker added 10.

The Eagles, who play at Butte on Saturday, converted just 9 of 19 free throws.

At Great Falls, Callee Remsen led a balanced attack for Eastern AA Great Falls in its defeat of the Western AA Knights.

Remsen shot 5 of 10 from the floor and closed with a game-best 12 points.

The Bison took a 15-2 lead at the end of the first quarter and outscored Hellgate 14-3 in the third quarter.

Cara Guderian scored seven points to lead the Knights (0-3).

At Whitefish, Cassidy Hashley led the Western AA Wolfpack in their one-sided victory over Northwestern A Whitefish.

Hashley tallied 13 points and Glacier (1-1) bolted to a 32-2 lead at halftime. Rachel Chery had 12 points and Nicole Heavirland added 10 for the Wolfpack.

Ashlee Brewer led the Bulldogs (0-3) with a 4-for-4 effort from the foul line.

At Anaconda, Emma Oostdyk scored 15 points and Sarah Lester added a dozen in Frenchtown's nonconference win over Anaconda.

The Northwestern A Broncs jumped out to a 10-2 lead after one quarter and were never headed. Frenchtown made just 8 of 18 free throws.

Jayme Stergar led Anaconda with 11 points.

At Columbia Falls, Emma Andrews led the Western AA Bravettes past Northwestern A Columbia Falls.

Andrews tallied a game-high 20 points as Flathead improved to 1-1.

Tess Brenneman added 10 points for the Bravettes, who held a 37-11 advantage at halftime.

The Wildkats (0-3) received 12 points from Hope Burlage.

At Troy, Diamond LaDeaux scored seven of her game-high 11 points in the fourth quarter as the Trotters pulled away for the District 7-B win.

The Trojans (0-2) held a 13-11 halftime lead but began to fade in the third frame, allowing seven unanswered points. Plains (2-2) then outscored the hosts in the final stanza, 18-10.

Kellie Lundin and Jordan Williams each had nine points for Troy.

At Thompson Falls, senior forward Kiernan Haggarty scored a game-high 17 points to lead the District 6-B Breakers over the District 7-B Bluehawks.

Junior point guard Kari Tirrell added 16 points for Loyola, which used a full-court press to build a 41-14 halftime lead.

Tirrell had eight points in the first quarter.

Allison Vaught had 12 points, including three 3-pointers, to lead the way for Thompson Falls (1-2).

At Florence, the Falcons scored 66 points through the first three quarters en route to the District 6-B win over the Maidens.

Cody Miller led the high-flying Falcons (2-1) with 19 points. Kasandra Skeers added 16 and Ava Coleman had 14.

Courtney Clairmont led Ronan with 17 points.

At Lincoln, Karissa Fox sparked a fast start for District 13-C Lincoln in its defeat of District 14-C St. Regis.

Fox scored six points in the first quarter, when the Lynx (2-1) bolted to a 17-9 lead.

Ali Bard and Katie Menard each scored 11 for Lincoln.

Arriana Jones scored a game-high 18 for the Tigers (1-2).

At Charlo, Rachel Hoyt paced a trio of double-digit scorers for the District 14-C Vikings in their defeat of the Pirates JV squad.

Hoyt scored 15 points for Charlo, which ran out to a 21-0 lead after eight minutes. Kinley Pope tallied 14 and Dawn Blevins added 12 for Charlo (4-0).

Karly Rochin led the Pirates with five points.

Superior led 36-18 at halftime and stretched that advantage to 62-32 after three quarters.

Kelsey Stenberg and Kaitlynn Koke added 16 points apiece for the Bobcats.

Mahalia Hendren paced Arlee with 19 points.

At Seeley Lake, Frankie Bignell came off the bench to lead the way and the Trojans went big on the offensive end in the second half of their District 13-C win.

Bignell scored 11 of her game-high 17 points in the second half, when Drummond (1-0, 3-0) outscored the Blackhawks 37-12.

Hope Crowell and Summit Parcell had seven points apiece for Seeley-Swan (0-1, 2-1).
