Prep soccer: Whitefish stays in hunt in Northern A

BIGFORK - Whitefish stayed right on the heels of Columbia Falls in the Northern A girls' soccer standings with a 4-0 win over Bigfork on Saturday afternoon.

Whitefish received goals from Natalie Gayner, Mackenzie Thomas, Samantha Dittman and Kayla Simmes. Caroline Carbo assisted on two of the tallies while Megan Danczyk had the other helper.

Piper Greenwood stopped two shots to earn the shutout for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs improved to 6-1-0 in league, one loss behind first-place Columbia Falls, 7-3-0 overall.

Bigfork fell to 0-5-1, 0-9-1.

At Kalispell, a pair of first-half tallies led the Bravettes to the crosstown Western AA shutout.

Brittany Earnest scored the first Flathead goal in the 21st minute before Sarah Cummins added an insurance tally 13 minutes later as the Bravettes moved to (4-1-3).

Payton Pietron made eight saves in goal for Flathead.

Shaniya Carey made 11 stops in goal for the Wolfpack (0-8-1).

At Corvallis, the Broncs scored all their goals in the first half of their Southern A win.

Bri Huggans, Casey Shifflett and Sami Kratofil all tallied for Hamilton (7-0-0, 8-2-0). Jill Toews added two assists for the Broncs and Huggans assisted on Kratofil's goal.

Marina McGourty made four saves for Hamilton.

Ayden Eickhoff scored for the Blue Devils (3-2-1, 3-5-1).

At Libby, McKenzie Kiser scored three goals and Danielle Delventhal added two more in the Wildkats' Northern A win over the Loggers.

Kiser had her hat trick in the first 17 minutes of the contest.

Cedar Jordt, Katie Donner, Courtney White and Melissa Livingston notched the other goals for Columbia Falls, which owned a 44-3 edge in shots on goal.

Julia Burgi stopped three shots to earn the shutout in goal.

The Wildkats remained perfect in league play at 7-0-0, 10-1-0 overall. Libby fell to 0-5-1, 0-9-1.

At Kalispell, Bryce Haugan completed his hat trick 24 minutes into the Wolfpack's Western AA win.

Elijah Dufour scored twice for Glacier (4-2-3), while Josiah Bumgarner had a goal and two assists. Kade Deleray and Tanner Hart also found the back of the net for the Wolfpack.

The Braves (0-8-0) received a four-save effort from Dino Cantu.

At Libby, Caleb Baumann's goal with 10 minutes to play helped the Wildcats earn the Northern A draw.

Blayne Metz and Talus Martin scored goals for the Loggers (2-3-1, 3-4-3), who received three saves from goalkeeper Rob Hamilton.

Luke Kazlauskas also tallied for Columbia Falls (1-4-2, 1-8-2).

Sean Janni and Nathan Boone each scored twice and Curran Edland registered four assists and a goal for Whitefish (7-0-0, 9-2-0). Connor Gray added a late tally for the Bulldogs.

Dillon Hilling made three saves for Bigfork (0-5-1, 0-9-1).

At Corvallis, Daymon Halstead contributed to all three goals in the Broncs' Southern A shutout victory.

Halstead had a goal and two assists and Hamilton improved to 7-0-0, 8-1-2.

John Ryter and Semisi Rigby tallied in the first half for the Broncs before Halstead found the back of the net midway through the second half.

Niall Gallagher made two saves for Hamilton and Shelby Gifford made nine stops for the Blue Devils (2-3-2, 2-5-2).
