Prep soccer: Sentinel girls cage Wolfpack

Sparked by a freshman, the Missoula Sentinel girls' soccer team picked up its first win since Sept. 6 on Saturday at Playfair Park.

Lexi Steele scored two goals and assisted on a third in leading the Spartans to a 3-1 triumph over Western AA foe Kalispell Glacier. All four of the game's goals were scored in the second half.

"We've had a couple games in a row where we've been dominating but we've ended with a tie, so we definitely deserved a win," said Sentinel coach Keri Grasky, whose team moved to 3-1-3. "Give credit to Lexi because she definitely was new life for us."

Anna Deleray scored Glacier's only goal in the 71st minute. The Wolfpack fell to 0-6-1.

At Kalispell, the Bravettes scored a goal in each half in posting the Western AA victory.

Paige Birky scored a minute before halftime and Bailie Poe tallied eight minutes into the second half for Flathead (3-1-3).

Payton Pietron made four saves to preserve the shutout for the Bravettes.

Kylie Rhodes stopped eight shots in goal for Big Sky (1-3-2).

The defeat dropped the Loggers to 0-4-1, 0-8-1.

Raul Gomez led a four-goal second half for the Spartans in their Western AA win at Playfair Park.

Daniel Knuffke gave the Wolfpack (2-2-3) the lead at halftime before Gomez knotted the match with an unassisted tally six minutes into the second half.

Gomez then assisted on Nick Propp's goal three minutes later and added the final score of the match in the 70th minute.

Joshua Coco-Espinosa added a goal on a penalty kick for Sentinel (4-1-2).

At Kalispell, the Eagles spotted the Braves a 2-0 lead in the first half then exploded for six goals in the Western AA match.

Nick Frontespezi scored a hat trick for Big Sky, tallying three goals. Eric Nelson added one on a header, Gorka Anderez hammered a shot home from 45 yards away and Kyle Sikes scored on a penalty kick.

Big Sky evened its record at 3-3-0. Flathead, which received goals from Christopher Cronk, Monte White and Blake Osborne, fell to 0-7-0.

Mason Geldamon made seven saves for the Wildcats, who slipped to 1-3-1, 1-7-1.

Julian Emond also found the back of the net for Stillwater Christian, which received a pair of assists from Josh Bray.
