Prep volleyball: Bulldogs trip rival Loggers

LIBBY - The Whitefish volleyball team scored a hard-fought Northwestern A win over rival Libby on Thursday evening.

Taylor Havens was the catalyst for the Bulldogs in their 25-22, 17-25, 26-24, 25-19 defeat of the Loggers.

Havens set 27 of Whitefish's 30 assists and added a team-high four aces as the Bulldogs upped their record to 2-1 in conference play and 2-3 overall.

Abby Strellnauer slammed home 11 kills for Whitefish and Baylee Tveidt stuffed three blocks. Lindsey Viscomi led the Bulldogs in digs with 18.

Libby, which slipped to 1-2 in league and overall, received 18 kills and a block from Selinna Maefau as well as 17 assists and four aces from Hannah England.

Whitefish def. Libby, 25-22, 17-25, 26-24, 25-19.

Kills - Whitefish 32 (Abby Strellnauer 11), Libby 45 (Selinna Maefau 18). Blocks - Whitefish 5 (Baylee Tveidt 3), Libby 2 (Taylor Quinn, Maefau). Digs - Whitefish 87 (Lindsey Viscomi 18), Libby 80 (Alyssa Walker 26). Assists - Whitefish 30 (Taylor Havens 27), Libby 40 (Lexie Hageness 19). Aces - Whitefish 11 (Havens 4), Libby 13 (Hannah England 4).

Class A

Hamilton def. Stevensville, 3-0

At Hamilton, Mary Conwell led the Broncs to the 25-20, 25-23, 25-22 Southwestern A sweep.

Conwell collected team highs with 25 assists, four aces and two blocks.

Penny Gwynn had 13 kills for Hamilton, which moved to 4-1 overall. Kennedy Chadwick led the Broncs in digs with 19 and Nichole Hood added two blocks.

Hamilton def. Stevensville, 25-20, 25-23, 25-22.

Kills - Hamilton 34 (Penny Gwynn 13). Blocks - Hamilton 4 (Mary Conwell 2, Nichole Hood 2). Digs - Hamilton 51 (Kennedy Chadwick 19). Assists - Hamilton 28 (Conwell 25). Aces - Hamilton 9 (Conwell 4).

Polson def. Columbia Falls, 3-0

At Columbia Falls, setter Shalaina Duford guided the Pirates to a Northwestern A sweep of the Wildkats.

Duford had 35 assists and 12 digs in Polson's 25-21, 25-20, 28-26 victory.

Ashley Johnson had a match-high 12 kills for the Pirates and Heidi Rausch added eight.

Shaun Rowe scooped 13 digs and served two aces to pace Columbia Falls.
