Filling it up: The 30-point club

•

Jared Samuelson of Billings West puts up a shot as Bozeman’s Bennett Hostetler (20) and Oliver Carr (43) defend during Saturday’s game. Samuelson finished with 30 points, one of several to hit the 30-point plateau in Montana this season.

By our count, 14 boys and girls players hit the 30-point plateau last weekend, including 11 on Saturday.

The list includes Jarod White of Hot Springs hitting for 37 against Plains, Brett Clark of Frazer eclipsing 30 for the second time this season, Billings West's Jared Samuelson scoring 30 in a win over Bozeman, and Jill Barta's 31 for Fairfield's girls in a victory over Belt.

Clark's 34-point outing was only half of the story from that Frazer/Richey-Lambert game Saturday, because the Fusion's Ryder Olson also went for 30. The same back-and-forth dynamic played out in another game earlier this year when Terae Briggs scored 34 for the Plenty Coups girls against Custer-Hysham while Tatia Hollowell got 33 on the other side for the Rebels.

On Monday, Brockton's Chance Roberts scored 31 in a win over Circle, making him the second two-time 30-point scorer this year along with Clark.

Below is my list of the statewide 30-point club to this point in the basketball season (up to Jan. 13). There have been 31 players to do it so far. And there are a lot of big names as you'll see.

Naturally, we may have missed a few that have slipped through the cracks. If you see anyone I'm missing, be sure to let us know via Twitter (@GazPrepSports, @SlimKimmel) or email (sports@billingsgazette.com, grachac@billingsgazette.com).

We'll try to update this list as the season goes along, so check back.
