DEWIT NAMED TO ALL-FRONTIER CONF TEAM

Frontier honors Bignell, DeWit, Machinal

Sammy Bignell of Montana Western and Kelsey DeWit and Mandy Machnial of Montana Tech were named to the All-Frontier Conference Team.

The league announced the team, which includes six players on the first team and five on the second, this morning.

Bignell, a 5-foot-10 junior from Avon, is the only non senior on the first-team. She averaged a team-leading 15.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game this season.

DeWit, a 6-2 junior from Columbia Falls, and Machinal a 5-7 sophomore from Richaland, Wash., were named to the second team. Machinal averaged 15.4 points per game, while DeWit scored 13.2. DeWit also pulled down 7.7 rebounds per game.

Westminster College’s Shelley Jarrard was selected as the 2012-2013 Coach of the Year. Jarrard led Westminster to the regular season conference and playoff championship and a berth to the national tournament.

Westminster senior guard Nicole Yazzie was named Player of the Year. She was the coaches’ preseason pick as Player of the Year.

Megan Patterson of Carroll College was named Newcomer of the Year. Haleigh Crnkovich of Rocky Mountain College and Cydney Tibbitts of Westminster College were named Co-Defensive Players of the Year.

Erin Legel of the University of Great Falls was named Freshman of the Year. Tia Pappas of Westminster College was selected the league’s 6th Player of the Year.
