RONAN – The Broncs are going dancing again.

Frenchtown knocked off top-seeded Columbia Falls with a 49-37 win in the Northwestern A girls’ basketball divisional tournament championship game.

Vanessa Stavish led the Broncs to their second straight Northwestern A title with 18 points and 10 rebounds.

Polson cut down Libby 48-27 in the third place contest. Pirates Heidi Rausch had a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards.

In the loser-out game, Polson steamrolled past Whitefish, 58-26 to advance to the third place game.

Columbia Falls and Polson will square off in a challenge game to go to the State A tournament on Monday in Ronan at 7 p.m.

Frenchtown 49, Columbia Falls 37

Frenchtown was 6 for 8 from behind the arc (75 percent) which helped the Broncs upset a Wildkat team that was just 1 for 9 (11 percent) from three.

Holly Jacobs had 11 points to join Stavish in double figures for Frenchtown (16-4).

Wildkats’ Haley Belgarde had 12 points and 11 rebounds for her team leading double-double. Columbia Falls fell to 16-4.

Polson 48, Libby 27

Mackenzie Banner scored a team-high 15 points to lead the Pirates over the Loggers.

Polson gathered 34 rebounds compared to Libby’s 17 and the Pirates (9-12) outscored the Loggers 31-6 in the first half.

Libby, which finished the season at 4-17, was paced by Hailey Craig who had 12 points.

The Pirates powered to a 27-10 lead in the first half and never looked back.

Three Polson players scored in double figures. Anna DiGiallonardo led the way with 17 points, followed by Heidi Rausch with 11 and Mackenzie Banner 10. Banner also had four steals.

Freshman Allie Schulz collected 10 points and five rebounds for Whitefish. The Bulldogs finished 1-19.
