DILLON – In a clash of Southwestern A girls’ basketball contenders, No. 2 Hamilton had a strong second half and held on to edge No. 5 Dillon 43-38 on Saturday.
Taylor Goligoski scored 14 points for the Broncs, who outscored the Beavers 8-5 in the third quarter and 12-9 in the fourth.
Hamilton, which improved to 4-1 in conference, 9-1 overall, shot 9 for 13 from the free-throw line compared to just 4 for 8 by Dillon.
Rachael Nye was the leading scorer for the Beavers with nine points. Dillon fell to 2-2, 5-2.

At Corvallis, Danee Leary dialed in offensively and tallied 19 points in leading the Maroons to the Southwestern A victory.
Central (5-0 conference, 8-2 overall) set the tone in the first half by jumping to a 23-9 lead. The Blue Devils (0-4, 1-8) regrouped and outscored the No. 2 Maroons in the second half, 25-24. But it was too little, too late.
Lakyn Connors led Corvallis with 12 points.

At Whitefish, No. 1 Columbia Falls went to work against Northwestern A rival Whitefish and came away with a big win.
Hope Burlage and Haley Belgarde scored 12 and 11 points, respectively, to lead the Wildkats to their seventh win (3-0 in conference, 7-2 overall).
The Wildkats outscored the Bulldogs 19-6 in the first quarter and 17-4 in the fourth.
Whitefish’s Simone Craft scored 16 points to lead all scorers, but her team remained winless at 0-3, 0-9.

At Libby, Anna DiGiallonardo had a big game to help Polson beat Libby and get its first Northwestern A conference win.
DiGiallonardo scored 16 points for the Pirates, who overcame an eight-point halftime deficit. They outscored the Loggers 37-14 in the second half.
Hailey Craig, Dayln Germany and Devon Gallagher had eight points each to lead Libby (1-3 conference, 1-7 overall).
The Pirates improved to 1-1, 2-7.

At Frenchtown, Vanessa Stavish had a huge game to help the Broncs sting the Copperheads in the nonconference showdown.
Stavish had 15 rebounds to go along with a game-high 27 points for the double-double. She scored seven in the opening period as Frenchtown (7-3 overall) outscored Anaconda 20-2.
Kayla Blood had seven steals, six assists and three points, and Larissa Berg had 12 boards with four points for the Broncs.
Courtney Moodry scored eight to lead the Copperheads, who fell to 3-6 overall.
