CATS BEAT POLSON--6-2! WILLIAMS SCORED A HAT TRICK!

 

Stevensville 2, Corvallis 0

At Stevensville, the Yellowjackets got a goal in each half and earned the Southern A shutout in their playoff tuneup.

Joseph Daniels tallied in the sixth minute off a feed from Daniel Pendergast and Curtis Liston netted his goal four minutes into the second half.

With the win, Stevensville moved to 5-2-1, 7-4-1 and awaits the winner of a Northern A play-in match for a first-round postseason road contest Saturday.

JJ O’Bannon made four saves for the Yellowjackets and Luke Channer stopped seven shots in goal for the Blue Devils.

At Hamilton, the Broncs closed out their Southern A slate with a convincing win, using a pair of goals by Sam Kern.

Hamilton (3-4-1 conference, 6-5-1 overall) exploded for six goals in the first 20 minutes. The Rams (0-8-0, 0-12-0) responded with a three-goal surge leading up to halftime but couldn’t cut any deeper into their three-goal deficit.

Sophomore Logan Reid paced Loyola Sacred Heart-Valley Christian with two goals.

At Columbia Falls, the Wildcats finished up their season with a convincing Northern A win, using a hat trick by Connor Williams.

The match was still close at halftime, with Columbia Falls clinging to a 2-0 lead on goals by Gaven Thelen and Williams. The Wildcats, who finished 2-4-2 in league play and 3-6-2 overall, broke things open on goals by Logan Carr and Williams in the first 14 minutes of the second half.

Polson, which finished 2-6-0, 2-9-0, received two goals from James Larson in the second half.

At Whitefish, the Northern A champion Bulldogs made the most of their regular-season finale, using three goals and an assist from senior Curran Edland in blanking their league foe.

Whitefish (8-0-0 conference, 12-0-0 overall) raced to a 5-0 lead in the first 22 minutes. Iaian Cameron had two goals and two assists in that time frame.

Whitefish senior Sam Donaldson, who set a Class A record with 26 goals last season, tallied two second-half goals to boost his total to 22 this season.

Keeper Austin Nagle had eight saves for Libby (2-3-3, 4-5-3).
