Williams in 800 meter finals at Simplot Games

POCATELLO, Idaho - Derrick Williams of Columbia Falls, a member of the Highlander Track Club, won his heat in the 800 with a time of 2:01.51 on Friday at the Simplot Games indoor track and field meet.

Williams' time was eighth fastest out of 110 runners.

There were eight heats of the 800.

Williams will run in the fastest of three 800 heats today in the finals.

Also competing for the Highlander Track Club today are Zach Perrin and Troy Fraley, both of Kalispell, in the 3,200 final and Lexy Boschee of Kalispell in the high jump.

Perrin and Fraley qualified on Thursday.

Boschee prequalified by meeting a meet standard in her specialty.

The event attracts the top high school athletes from around the U.S. and Canada.
