Meilicke, Triplett, Wilkinson, Andrews earn rodeo buckles

Four members of the Flathead Valley High School Rodeo Team were buckle winners at the District 5 Rodeo in Hamilton on May 30.

Matea Meilicke buckled in barrel racing, Matt Triplett in bull riding, Dillon Wilkinson in saddle bronc and Jake Andrews in steer wrestling.

All four will compete in the Montana High School State Rodeo, which begins today at the fairgrounds in Bozeman. The first rodeo event at state is cow cutting.

Shelbi Schroeder has entered the queen competition today for the FVHSRT.

The rodeo ends Sunday.

Bull Riding - 1. (tie) Matt Triplett, 66

Steer Wrestling - 1. Jake Andrews, 6.16

Team Roping - 4. Shawn George/Jake Andrews 27.28.

Average placing

Jake Andrews was fourth in Calf Roping and second in the overall average with 36 points. Quindee Averill was second in Barrel Racing and Dillon Wilkinson was fourth in Steer Wrestling.
