Saint Mary, Deer Creek and Choctaw Win State Cheer TitlesOctober 3, 2011 By VYPE Oklahoma of VYPE MAGAZINE - OklahomaThe 2011 State Cheer competition was held on the campus of Oklahoma State University at Gallager-Iba Arena. With large school and small schools competing for an opportunity to become state champions, the level of competition was tough and the winners knew they had to be perfect. In Class 2A Hominy High School came out on top after Christian Heritage was DNQ. Here's how they finished; Hominy, Quapaw, Quinton, Hinton, Wewoka, Central Sallisaw, Preston, Afton, Kiefer, Warner, Liberty, Welch, Ketchum, Foyil, Morrison, Gore. Class 3A was a close contest, but Lincoln Christian came out the champion. Class 3A finishers; Lincoln Christian, Washington, Perry, Sulphur, Stroud, Commerce, Prague, Wilburton, Kansas, Morris, Henryetta, Colcord. Class 4A was only separated by four points, but Mount Saint Mary proved to be best. Class 4A finishers; Mt. Saint Mary, Bristow, Vinita, Oklahoma Christian, Tuttle, Blanchard, Pauls Valley, Purcell, Verdigris, Blackwell, Bridge Creek, McLoud, Dewey, Clinton, Locust Grove, Cushing, Eufaula, Westville. Class 5A was the closest contest of them all. Deer Creek was crowned champion, but Harrah wasn't too far behind. Deer Creek, Harrah, Cascia Hall, Haritage Hall, Carl Albert, Chickasha, Altus, Catoosa, Skiatook, Miami, Tahlequah, McAlester, Sallisaw, Wagoner, Guymon, Shawnee, Coweta, Stilwell, Grove. In the largest class the Lady Redskins of Union performed like champions and brought home a state title. Union, Edmond North, Southmoore, Ponca City, Lawton Ike, Moore, Stillwater, Westmoore, Edmond Memorial, Sand Springs, Edison, Muskogee, Booker T. Washington, Enid, Bartlesville. Small Coed was another close contest with Keys coming out on top. Keys, Newcastle, Comanche, Newkirk, Marlow, Dibble, Jay, Savanna, Sequoyah Claremore. In Large Coed, Choctaw proved they are a true contender by running away with the title. Choctaw, Broken Arrow, Norman North, Edmond Santa Fe, Jenks, Claremore, Mustang, Norman, Bixby, Owasso, Putnam City North, Yukon, Midwest City, Metro Christian, Glenpool, Sapulpa, Lawton, Memorial.
