Central Oklahoma's Elite 8: Top Players in OKC Area

February 1, 2013
By VYPE Oklahoma of VYPE MAGAZINE - Oklahoma

The VYPE Central Oklahoma Elite 8 list doesn't disappoint.

David Bush-Putnam City

Combo Guard | 5'10"

“It means a lot knowing that I’m in the Elite 8. I’ve worked hard over the past three years and I’ve earned it. It wasn’t just given to me, nothing is given, you have to earn everything. I’m at my best when I’m taking it to the basket and I’m a mid-range pull up shooter. My plan after high school is to attend college and keep my basketball career going. A role model I look up to is coach Burtschi. When I’m not playing basketball or in class I enjoy hanging with my friends and playing 2k13.”

Editor’s Note

David is the type of player you hate to see get hot if your coaching or playing against. David joins the list of great basketball players to come out of PCO.

Stevie Clark-Douglass

Point Guard  | 5'10"

“Making the Elite 8 is an honor and I’m proud to represent my team. After high school I’m going to take my game to Oklahoma State University. I’m looking forward to playing there, but first we have a season to finish at Douglass. The strongest part of my game is my shooting. I can also find the open man and dish. In my free time I like to hang out with friends and family. Family is important to me because I know they will always be there for me."

Editor’s Note

Stevie has been an electric player for several years. He could go on to have a huge career at OSU. Look for great things from this young man this year and years to come.

Carlbe Ervin-Edmond North

Combo Guard  | 6'3"

“Thank you for the honor of being on the Elite 8 team. I’m truly blessed. My plan after high school is to play basketball in college and pursue my degree. I’m a versatile player who can shoot, rebound and pass. I try to be a leader for my team and play hard every night. I like to have fun and I really enjoy being around my teammates. We work hard and play hard, but always give effort. When I’m not on the court I’m hanging out with my friends. Thanks again for the honor. It means a lot.”

Editor’s Note

Carlbe is a great player any coach would love to have on their roster. Carlbe is a tough competitor who doesn't know the word quit.

Jordan Woodard-Edmond Memorial

Point Guard | 6'0"

“It’s an honor to be on the Elite 8 team this year. On the court I’m always looking to make something happen either by shooting, passing or rebounding. After high school I plan to go to college and get a degree while playing basketball. In my free time I like spending time with my family and I’m involved in many church activities. I work hard on the court and in the classroom. We’re excited to get this season going as we work towards making the state tournament and competing for a state title.”

Editor’s Note

Who doesn’t want a Jordan Woodard on their team? This kid can play. Talented on both ends of the court, Jordan can score or help the team on the other end. Certainly a next level player.

Teanna Reid-Millwood

Point Guard  | 5'5"

“It’s an honor to be on the Elite 8 team. Recognizing me for my play is an honor, but I’m all about my team. We are on a road to repeat as champs. The strongest part of my game is making things happen on the floor and getting my team involved. After high school I want to attend college and continue playing basketball. When I’m not playing basketball I like to hang with friends and I love to dance.”

Editor’s Note

Teanna is a tough guard to stop. She can pass, shoot and play tough defense. A big reason the Lady Falcons won a state title, Teanna and the girls are focused on repeating.

Bri Kuestersteffen-Norman North

Point Guard | 5'5"

“I am very honored to be on the Elite 8. I love competing and to be recognized as a true competitor. It’s a very rewarding experience. The strongest part of my game is being a well-rounded player. I’m a triple threat. I can shoot, drive and dish to the open player. I would like to play basketball at the college level, earn a degree and become a women’s college basketball coach or an NBA commentator. Whitney Hand is a role model of mine because of her leadership and perseverance through adversity. I don’t have much free time because I also play soccer, but when I do I love hanging out with my teammates because they are my best friends.”

Editor’s Note

Bri is a firecracker on the court. She has it all. Speed, vision and a court presence are just a few words to describe her game. This VYPE Top 100 player has what it takes to play at the next level.

Cameerah Graves-Edmond Santa Fe

Point Guard  | 5'8"

“I am honored to be in the Elite 8. I work hard and I’m happy that my hard work is being noticed. My defense is the strongest part of my game. My plan after high school is to play basketball in college and major in nursing. My dad is my role model because he is a hard worker and his is very passionate about his work. In my free time I like to shop, hang out with my teammates and family. One player I like to watch is Kobe Bryant. I admire his game.”

Editor’s Note

Cameerah simply makes things happen on the court. A big reason the Lady Wolves will be tough this year. She has the ability to get other players involved and make them better.

Gioya Carter-Carl Albert

Shooting Guard | 5'8"

“Thank you for selecting me to the Elite 8 team. I’m proud to represent Carl Albert and my teammates. It’s an honor. My plan after high school is to attend the University of Oklahoma where I will continue my basketball career. This year we are motivated to make the state tournament. We’re working hard every day. In my free time I like to hang out with friends and spend time at my church. The strongest part of my game is making shots and grabbing rebounds. I like to get others involved and I like to play hard.”

Editor’s Note

Gioya can do it all. From rebounding to shooting, passing and defense, this girl can flat play. Great kid off the court, ferocious player on the court.
