The Eagles and the Bulldogs battle on the Game of the Week
December 11, 2012By William Warfield of Central Kentucky Network
Tonight on the Central Kentucky Game of the Week we come to you live from the Doggpound when the Paul Laurence Dunbar Bulldogs battle the visiting Lexington Christian Eagles.
The Eagles enter tonight's game with a record of 2-3 on the season under first year Head Coach Brad Carter. Carter may be the new Head Coach however he is a familiar face on the sideline for LCA. Carter was the long time assistant coach under Kentucky high school basketball legend Tommy Huston. The Eagles are lead by seniors Taylor Blair and Jon Lannertone. While the Eagles only have two returning seniors their youth on the team is what's exciting. A young sophomore class that features Coach Calipari's son, Brad and what many consider the next "Rex" in small forward Matt Rose. Many say Rose is a big time player with the potential to be like his uncle Rex Chapman. The kid certainly has height at 6'5" and the jumping ability to be great.
The Bulldogs come into the game 2-3 on the season. The two wins came this past week over Lexington Lafayette and Model High School out of Richmond. Former Franklin County Head Coach Scott Chalk is the new Head Coach at Dunbar. Senior Sensation William Gary is the key to this team along with the big man in the middle in senior Eric Trigg. Senior Guard Mike Smith is playing his best basketball of his high school career and is exciting to watch on the court. Smith along with Gary are a tough combination for any team in the state to defend.
