Garden Plain, Rose Hill grab big wins

   Garden Plain scored 21 unanswered points to break a 21-21 tie at halftime and rolled to a 42-29 victory over Southeast of Saline on Tuesday in a Class 3A first-round game matching two once-beaten teams.
   The Owls (9-1) rolled up 361 rushing yards and held Southeast (8-2) to 95 in advancing to Saturday's second-round game at home against Wichita Collegiate.
   The Rose Hill Rockets posted perhaps the biggest win of the night with a 28-12 victory over state-ranked Holton, last year's runner-up in Class 4A.
   Rose Hill (9-1) which has now won nine straight games after losing the season opener to unbeaten Buhler, forced two Holton fumbles, got an interception, blocked a punt and forced the Wildcats to turn it over on downs four times.  Rose Hill will play host to Andale in a second-round game Saturday.
   Sedgwick remained unbeaten in Class 3A as Trent Stucky threw five touchdown passes and ran for another as the Cardinald cruised to a 41-20 victory over Hillsboro.
   Collegiate (8-2) made it eight straight wins with 58-8 thumping of Medicine Lodge in Class 3A and Andale, after starting 0-5, won its fifth straight game with a 42-7 romp over Clearwater in a 4A game. Hesston overcame a 16-3 halftime deficit to beat Concordia, 19-16 in a 4A playoff game.
   Other area winners included Mulvane and Buhler in 4A, Conway Springs in 3A, Central-Burden in Eight-Man I and South Haven in Eight-Man II.    Listed below are Saturday's second-round playoff games in Class 4A and 3A.
