Girls tournament week wraps up

   The Maize Eagles, ranked No. 3 in Class 6A, knocked off two-time defending state champion Wichita Heights, 52-44, in the finals of the Shawnee Heights Invitational on Saturday.

   Five other area teams alsowon girls tournament championships - Garden Plain, Haven, Wichita South, Wichita's Trinity Academy and Hutchinson's Trinity Catholic.

   Garden Plain edged Mulvane, 40-37, to win the Mulvane tournament; Haven downed Buhler, 45-29, to win its own Wildcat Invitational; Wichita South, the No. 2-ranked team in 6A, struggled to edge Class 1A's St. John, 26-24, in overtime at the Pratt Invitational; Trinity Academy edged Berean Academy, 38-37, at the Eli Walter Tournament and Trinity Catholic defeated Inman, 39-34, at the Sedgwick Invitational.
