Crousore, Svarczkopf Return to Lawrence North Wrestling

Indiana High School Wrestling Coaches Association Hall of Fame coach Brett Crousore will return to the helm at Lawrence North for the 2011-12 season.

Named the new “interim” head wrestling coach, Crousore was previously the head coach at Lawrence North from 1999 to 2005.

Last year, the Lawrence North Wildcats were state runner-ups in the IHSAA team wrestling state tournament to Perry Meridian.

Crousore, who is also the school’s principal, led the team to back-to-back team state championships during his tenure.

In his previous stint as head coach, Crousore guided the program to three Marion County championships, five Metropolitan Interscholastic Conference titles. The program also won six sectionals, five regionals, four semistates and amassed a dual meet record of 154-11.

Crousore coached 33 individual state-place winners as head coach.

Crousore will be joined by assistant coach Frank Svarczkopf, who was also inducted into the IHSWCA Hall of Fame as a coach.

Svarczkopf was the head coach at Lawrence North from 1985 to 1994. During his stint at Lawrence North, the program captured back-to-back team state titles.

Parratto Named New Swim Coach

The Lawrence North swimming and diving team will be coached by Mike Parratto this season. Just the program’s third coach in school history, Parratto was an assistant coach for the Wildcats last year.

Parratto is also the coach for the Lawrence Swim Team.

From New Hampshire, Parratto has been a career swim coach, having established established one of the best programs in his home state and winning two New Hampshire High School State Championships at Oyster River High School.

His club team garnered twelve Olympic Trial qualifiers including eight-time Olympic Gold medalist Jenny Thompson, before he and his family relocated to Indianapolis.

Former Lawrence North head coach Mike Penrose, the head coach for the past twelve years, will continue to be on staff as an assistant.

Etherington Named New Girls Basketball Coach

The Lawrence North girls basketball program will be led by Jim Etherington this season.

Coach Etherington originally came to Lawrence North in 1994 as the head girls basketball coach. He coached the program for two seasons before being joining Jack Keefer’s staff in the boys basketball program.

An integral part of the boys program, he was a lead assistant on three state championship teams.
