Home » Cross Country NewsNew Palestine's Courtney and Caitlynn Edon Commit to Ball StateFebruary 23, 2011 VYPE MAGAZINE - Central IndianaEarlier this month, New Palestine seniors Courtney and Caitlynn Edon signed their letters of intent to compete in cross country and track and field for Ball State University. Courtney and Caitlynn are the daughters of Sherry and Alan Edon. In cross country the Edon’s have been a part of three Hoosier Heritage Conference team championships, four Hancock County championships, and four semistate appearances, finishing 11th this past fall which was the best finish ever for New Palestine. In track, the Edon’s have been a part of two HHC championships and three county championships. The Edon’s were state qualifiers last spring in the 3,200-meter relay where they set a school record of 9 minutes, 38 seconds, placing 16th in the state. Courtney was sectional champion in the mile and placed 17th at state in the event. Courtney has earned multiple HHC and Hancock County championships in the 3,200 relay, 1,600, and 3,200. Caitlynn is a three-time all-conference performer in cross country and was all-conference in track last spring. She is a two- time all-sectional and all-regional performer in cross country. She has also competed for the NPHS Dragon tennis team for four years. Courtney is three-time HHC champion in cross country, a county champion in cross country, two-time sectional champion in cross country, a regional champion in cross country, and was All-State this past fall placing 13th. Courtney was chosen as an Indiana Cross Country All-Star for her accomplishments and represented Indiana at the Midwest meet of Champions. Courtney Edon holds the 5K school record of 18:35.
