Undefeated Wrestlers Advance to State Quarterfinals Unscathed

On Friday night, 224 wrestlers entered the 73^rd Annual IHSAA Individual Wrestling State Finals at Conseco Fieldhouse. By night’s end, the field was trimmed down to 112 with only the elite eight left standing in 14 different weight classes.

All 31 undefeated wrestlers that carried perfect records into Friday night's opening round went unscathed and will continue their quest for perfection in the quarterfinals on Saturday morning.

Wrestling resumes at 9:30 a.m. (ET) with semifinal advancement on the line. Semifinals will follow the quarterfinals in the morning. The consolation rounds will begin at 5 p.m. (ET) and the championship finals will take place at 7:30 p.m. (ET)

Fastest Fall of the Night

The fastest pin goes to third-ranked Tanner Lynde of Delphi. Lynde (46-0) pinned 12^th-ranked Jacob Masengale of Perry Meridian (39-7) in 33 seconds in the first round of the 171-pound state finals. Lynde’s time is the fastest fall at the state meet at 171 pounds in tournament history. The previous record belonged to Brandon Pinkston of Princeton at 41 seconds. Pinkston set the record in 2005.
