Panthers Secure Tough Road Win

April 29, 2011
By David Meyers of Centralia High School

The Centralia Panther baseball team got a huge CCC road victory last night with a 4-1 victory over the Mark Twain Tigers.

Senior pitcher Dylan Stidham overcame a rocky first inning and went the distance in securing the win.  Stidham allowed 3 hits and only 6 baserunners the final 6 innings in holding the Tigers to 1 run.

Centralia scored 1 run in the third, 2 in the 5th and 1 in the seventh for it's 3rd CCC win of the season.  Grant Elsbury drove Caleb White in in the 3rd, Alec Ford drove in Cameron Cloven and Shanne Kottwitz in with a single in the 5th, and White scored again in the 7th, thanks to another Elsbury single.

The Panthers are now 4-7 overall and 3-2 in the CCC.  They play a doubleheader on Friday night vs. Monroe City and Blair Oaks at home.

In the JV game, Centralia scored 13 runs on 11 hits and 9 Tiger errors in a 13-1 rout.  Caleb Liegey, Chandler Kovar, Austin Wells and Tyler Roberts all threw for the Panthers.
