October 24, 2012
By Jeff Martin of Centralia High School

The Panther Volleyball squad defeated Orchard Farm in the District Semi-Finals 25-14, 23-25, 25-11 to advance to the District Championship game.  Game 1 saw Orchard Farm jump out to a 7-2 lead but some strong serving and solid net play quickly got the Panthers back even and eventually led to a win.  Game 2 saw Orchard Farm get out to another quick lead that would eventually grow to 13-6.  Again the Cats fought back eventually evening things at 23 before Orchard Farm eked out the 2 point win.  The Panthers jumped out to a quick 7-0 lead and behind 12 service points from Madison Becker cruised into the district final.

The Championship match was a tight affair in game 1 that went back and forth with the Panthers taking their last lead at 20-19 before Lutheran St. Peters was able to serve out the game for a 25-20 victory.  Game 2 saw Lutheran jump out to a quick 8-2 lead and never trailed winning the game 25-13 and the district championship.  The Panthers ended the most successful season in school history 12-10-3 and district runnerup for the first time.  Thanks to all who supported the squad this season!
