Panther Spikers come from behind at Eugene

October 12, 2012
By Jeff Martin of Centralia High School

Panther Volleyball overcame a sluggish game 1 to come from behind and win a very tight match at Eugene in 3 games 20-25, 25-17, 25-22.  After losing to Eugene at the Belle Tournament in September the Panthers did not start well in game 1 with several serve receive errors keeping the Cats behind the eight ball.  Game 2 was a different story as strong net play keyed by several blocks and sharp passing pushed the Panthers to a win.  Game 3 was a tight back and forth affair with Centralia not taking full control till the last point on a terrific tip kill on match point by Shelby Mechlin.  The Varsity improves to 9-8-3 on the year and next travels to Chamois on Monday beginning with the JV affair at 6 p.m.

The JV improved to 9-4-2 on the year with a 25-19, 22-25, 25-23 win.

The Freshmen concluded their season with a split against a combined freshmen/sophomore squad from Eugene 23-25, 25-9 wrapping up their season with a record of 2-2-1
