Panthers finish strong at Belle Tournament

September 30, 2012
By Jeff Martin of Centralia High School

Despite a slow start the Panther Volleyball squad finished 2-1-1 this weekend at the Belle Volleyball Tournament.  Pool play began with a rough start v. Eugene with the Panthers dropping a 17-25, 16-25 decision to the eventual tournament runnerup.  The Cats bounced back in round 2 of pool play with a 25-21, 22-25 tie against tournament host Belle.  Strong net play, with several blocks from Katie Parker and Lauren Seider, thwarted several Belle runs.  The Panthers concluded pool play with a 25-14, 25-19 victory over Calvary Lutheran.  The Panthers finished the day capturing the consolation trophy by defeating Bourbon 25-19, 25-19 in a solid effort.

The Panthers are now 5-7-3 on the year and next play Montgomery County beginning with the JV match at 6 p.m. at the CHS gym.
