Home » Baseball NewsPanther Baseball Downs Monroe CityApril 25, 2012 By David Meyers of Centralia High SchoolThe Centralia Panther baseball team kept it's CCC title hopes alive with a 6-2 league win over Monroe City on Tuesday night. The Panthers scored 2 runs in each of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th innings and starting pitcher Zach Etzler held the Monroe City offense in check until the 6th inning for the Panthers 4th CCC win against just 1 loss. Chandler Kovar, Stuart Cox and Nate VanBoening each each had 2 hits to lead the Panther offense. Kovar had a solo home run in the 3rd. Etzler allowed 2 runs on 5 hits and struck out 6 in the complete game win. Centralia, now 10-6, hosts Mark Twain on Thursday night. First pitch is scheduled for 5:00. In the Jr. Varsity contest, Monroe City scored a run in the bottom of the 4th and the game ended in a 3-3 tie. Austin Wells home run was the offensive highlight for Centralia.
