Home » Baseball NewsPanther Baseball on 4 Game StreakApril 11, 2012 By David Meyers of Centralia High SchoolThe Centralia Panther baseball team won it's 4th game in a row on Tuesday night with a 7-5 victory over the defending CCC champion Macon Tigers. Chandler Kovar provided a first inning 2 run homer and the Panthers turned 2 walks, a hit batter and 2 singles into 4 runs in the second to stake themselves to a lead they would never relinquish. Macon answered with 2 runs of their own in the 4th inning against starting pitcher Zach Etzler thanks to 3 singles, and inched even closer in the 6th scoring 3 times before Nathan VanBoening recorded the final 4 outs for the save. Kovar led the Panthers going 3 for 3 with a walk and 3 rbi's. Stuart Cox and Devan Duncan both contributed 2 hits for the Panther offense. Etzler got the win going 5 and 2/3 innings allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and striking out 5. VanBoening recorded the save striking out 2 of the 4 batters he faced. Centralia improves to 6-3 on the season and 2-0 in the CCC. The Panthers host District foe Mexico on Thursday night at home. Centralia travels to Wright City on Friday for a 4:30 start and to South Shelby on Saturday for a 4:00 start.
